Portrait of Kayo Albert
Creating her Own Abstract Universe
Strongly inspired by the likes of Carl Jung and abstract expressionism, Albert is drawn to our ability to maintain a surprising amount of data in our subconscious mind and to connect with others on a subliminal level. Further, her work is built on processes - process of executing her craft and that of natural phenomena such as erosion by the flow of water and wind. The works resemble landscape although there is no representative references but process itself.
Achieving her Desired Concrete Composition
Albert is empowered through her memories, dreams, and visual imagery within her memory. She uses her intuition, initially drawing with pastels which provide her with direction, and lead her composition. She then uses thin layers of paint to solidify her drawings, the process repeated to increase the depth and complexity of her art.
One to Watch
Kayo Albert is steadily establishing herself across America, having already exhibited on a wide scale in her relatively short career. She has displayed works at the Con Artist Gallery, New York, Catalyst Gallery, New York and Maverick Art Fair. She sets her sights on establishing herself on an international scale.
Abstract painting inspired by her experience through 5+1 senses in every day life - her perception, feeling and memory all stored in subconscious emerged as what seems like a landscape. "Evanescence" series was created with the sense of "Impermanence" and "fragility." Executed on Mylar (drafting film) with various materials, then mounted on wooden panel.
